Cross Stitch Gold 105

Those of you who are lovely-sweet-kind enough to follow my occasional ramblings or mere outbursts on Facebook as well, might remember that a few months ago I moaned a bit when I started my fifth hour of stitching French knots with metallic threads (I know, I`m such a wimp!). Anyway, the result of this Metallic Marathon is in the shops now - my beautiful little advent calendar picture which I absolutely adored working on, despite those few (one hundred and thirty-four, but who`s counting?) French knots. And that`s not all: issue 105 of Gold features Lesley Teare`s unconventional, super-girly Christmas stocking - also stitched by yours truly. So let`s see some before-and-after pictures, shall we?

A nice and easy stitch for a `last-minute` stocking

All made up, complete with some funky fabby

And a more traditional Christmas scene, with 134 (!) metallic French knots
The finished advent calendar, complete with the 25 numbers I stitched - I love the idea of these tiny drawers!

  1. I love the stocking and the Christmas calendar! So this is where the french knots you were talking about were... I see them in the "traditional Christmas" all over... You are a hero.

  3. Thank you, ladies, I appreciate your kind words! I just posted something that`ll appear in Gold 107 and it seems the next commission is already in the post so I`m going to have a stitchy race with postie and try to get a bit more done on the Dream a Little Dream sampler today. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment! :)

  5. Hi Lucy, have you tried Ebay? I`m sure there are some copies there for sale, although they might be pricey. If you can`t find anything cheaper, for £6.35 you can order a back issue of Gold 105 from Origin Publishing here: http://secure3.subscribeonline.co.uk/origin/products.sol?mag=GOLD
Hope this helps, good luck! :)

  7. Oh, shocks, you`re making me blush! :D I`ve just thought of something (and the fact that this wasn`t my first idea shows you how much I`m NOT a gadget girl): at this day and age, the magazine must have some app or digital store kinda thing, where you can download a virtual magazine, or maybe not even the whole thing, just the odd chart you need...? Might be worth looking into.
    Glad to help, happy stitching!
