snowdrop fairy

Cross Stitch Gold 107 is out today and in it you can see the snowdrop fairy, designed by Durene Jones, that I stitched a few months ago. And if you check the `coming up in next month`s issue` section, there`s the LOVE cushion, also designed by Durene, that was also stitched by yours truly. Moreover, if you look closely at the Framing Tips section, you can see (and might remember) the Indian designs I stitched ages ago - these were, surprisingly, designed by Durene Jones as well.
So, in other words, this issue is full of my stuff - Gregory, bless him, asked me when I showed him the pictures if this meant that his mum was famous now but I had to disappoint him. I guess it`s pretty hard for an 8-year-old to understand that even if my name actually appeared under my work, that still wouldn`t mean instant world fame... I just hope he won`t send me on the X Factor or a similar show just so that he can brag about me at school! :)
I am stitching some cards at the moment and I thoroughly enjoy the respite of smaller projects between the larger ones - they`re ideal for this time of year, at least I can do my Christmas shopping and concentrate on some handmade presents (pictures of which I can`t share just now, for obvious reasons). Instead, I`ll show you a collection of photos I found on the Internet, while looking for something completely different. It`s a sort of montage of Christmas trees - enjoy!
I bet Hubby wouldn`t mind a tree like this ;)
This is what would happen if we had a cat :)
My ideal space-saver Christmas tree!
Whereas Gregory would probably want something THIS size...
And what we`ll probably end up with... :)

  2. For me, if your work appears in magazines with your name on it - you are famous! The fact that people don't recognize you on the streets and don't point fingers at you may be a bonus. My husband published his book of poetry some time ago. Just because no one in our little town has read it does not mean he is not famous. :) Lovely stitching! Have a wonderful holiday season with no stress and lots of pleasant moments!

  3. Thank you, ladies, and Happy Thanksgiving to all of you who celebrate it :)
I don`t think I`d be too great at coping with that sort of celebrity status where you can`t even go for a pint of milk without half the world discussing your clothes, hair and make-up (nor would I like to be in the situation where I don`t need to go myself any more to pick up a pint of milk, lol). Congratulations on your hubby`s achievement, Katya, you must be so proud of him, I love when someone just decides something and goes for it! Fame has nothing to do with that, really. I guess Gregory just had this idea when I showed him the magazine that next day he`d go to school and tell his friend that `my mum is a famous cross stitcher` - which in itself makes me giggle, I mean it`s not exactly on par with a Justin Bieber-like world fame (I don`t know how many people are familiar with these magazines but I doubt there are millions). For some reason, Cross Stitch Crazy is the only mag that publishes the stitchers` names and I hardly ever work for them, most of my stitches are in other publications that name no names - but I`m OK with that: I`m not doing it for the money (definitely not, lol!) nor the glory, at least not the public kind. I know which projects are mine and I love to see them in the magazines every month, and this blog is the only public forum where I `brag` about them, but even my posts here are only seen by a few dozen people all around the world, and I`m grateful for those select few for showing interest.
We don`t celebrate Thanksgiving here but if we did, you lovely people would definitely be on my `to be thankful for` list! Wishing you all a lovely holiday season! :)
