As of from today, the latest issue of Card Shop is available, and in it are the pets-in-stockings cards I stitched, designed by Debra Page. This set of 6 took me a surprising 90 hours - I don`t know about you, but I`d really, REALLY have to like that pet owner friend of mine to spend 15 hours on stitching just a card for them, on top of giving them a `proper` present! But I might be just too "bah humbug" ;)
Anyway, I wanted to ask your opinion because it may be just my eyes playing tricks on me (after all, it wouldn`t be too surprising after all the hours I spend stitching, lol). Don`t you guys think that the photos in these magazines are getting brighter and brighter? Maybe they have to be so strongly lit in order to show off beads or metallic threads, I don`t know, but I`ve noticed that there`s a huge difference between how I remember the colours of a certain project and how they appear in the mag... lol, or it might be due to my awful photography skills? ;) I`ll let you decide!

Lovely backstitch detail - what a difference it can make, right? |

Guinea pigs in stockings :) |

Next up: puppy dogs :) |
|
Mixed message: Easter bunnies in Christmas stockings, lol! |
|
That`s all six cards done ;) |

And how they appeared in the magazine. Is it just me or are they a bit `bleached`? |
Congrats on such fantastic finishes! They altogether look superb!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, I`m so glad you like them! :)
DeleteEmbroideries are adorable. Stunningly colorful. The newspaper also look good - they probably need to lighten photos, eliminate shadows, and so on. But maybe actually a little bit exaggerated.
ReplyDeleteRegards sunny :)
Thanks, Violka! :) I agree, it must be necessary to show all the details of the stitching. Also, maybe the photo I took of the magazine page is even brighter than the original...? ;)
DeletePiękne zwierzaki w skarpetach! Zazwyczaj wyszyty haft ma ładniejsze kolory niż ten na zdjęciach. Pozdrawiam.
ReplyDeleteThank you! :) You`re absolutely right, the colours are usually more vibrant in reality than in the photos - lol, which is bad news for those stitchers who don`t follow the key but rather pick threads from their stash, based on what they see in the magazine ;)
DeleteWow they so beautiful xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cucki! :)
DeleteBeautiful projects! In the magazine they do look lighter, but I would think it's because of "tinkering" with the photos... Lovely stitching! :)
ReplyDeleteI noticed there is a pair of man's shoes in your Etsy shop for sale... Did you make them yourself as well? :)
Lol, "Stitched by..." - but no ;) It`s a pair of Ben Sherman shoes that I bought for myself - I used to have something similar when I was a teenager, shiny and square-nosed (I`m talking about the shoes. Albeit shiny, I wasn`t that square-nosed as a teenager). Anyway, nostalgia led me to purchase them in a charity shop, where as a rule I never buy shoes but these were brand new. Then when I put them on once, they turned out to be a bit small, plus I suddenly became self-conscious a bit: I thought everybody could instantly see that they`re man`s shoes - and it bothered me, which came as a surprise, as my teenage self would have relished the anti-establishment gesture ;) But since they are brand new and their current equivalents cost a fortune in the shops, I put them on Etsy as `vintage clothing`, so maybe one day they`ll find a good home. :)

Hi Mary - and Fatima (sorry, I don`t know how I didn`t see this earlier!) :\ Oh, and before I forget: Happy New Year to you both! :)
ReplyDeleteI`ve had a look on Ebay and, unfortunately, it seems that issue 98 is not available at the moment; however, even if it were, it might not be any cheaper than ordering a back issue from the publisher. Here`s a link where you can get Card Shop 98:

Happy stitching! :)
