The latest issue of Cross Stitcher is in the UK shops now and in it is this gorgeous Christmas sampler, designed by Faye Walsh:
It took 60 hours to stitch and before posting it, I`d taken some close-ups of the individual motifs - I love how vibrant the colours are on the lavender fabric and the stitches lay so nicely on the 32ct evenweave. 😊
And as promised, here is one last photo of the Monarch of the Glen: we just got him back from the framers and he`s already in pride of place on the wall - happy stitching, peeps! 😊
I really like the Christmas project. I can see each of the motifs as a bookmark or a Christmas card.
ReplyDeleteThe Monarch of the Glen is a work of art. (Silly me, I saw the name and thought of the TV Show first). Beautiful stitching as always, Laura!
Thank you, Katya! 😊 Hehe, I know what you mean about the tv series 😁 Same here, and I bet a lot of people think of Richard Briers & co. first before Landseer`s painting, not to mention all the other things the image has been used to advertise, from soap to whiskey to insurance and, as I`ve found out from this piece (http://www.rbarlow.net/portfolio-monarchs-text.php), it even appeared on American bank notes - this stag definitely has a fascinating history! 😃
DeleteLove the Christmas sampler! It's so pretty on that colour of fabric.
ReplyDeleteMonarch of the Glen is just simply stunning!
Thank you, Rhona! 😊 xx
Deletecross stitch patterns with software there are only two possibilities: either the users control the programme or the programme controls the users. If the programme controls the users, and the developer controls the programme, then the programme is an instrument of unjust power.
ReplyDeleteWow, I think you`re onto something 😲 I can`t believe I never realised The Matrix was all about cross stitch! 🤪
